Advisor Spotlight: Jared

A Bit About Jared

Jared’s enthusiasm for helping clients understand and grow their wealth is tangible. With a detailed background in tax preparation, he’s a valuable asset within DiversiFi Capital for our clients. We asked him a few quick questions to highlight what makes him an invaluable financial advisor to have on your side.

Jared, tell us a bit about yourself!

“I was born and raised in Santa Rosa, California (I spent about 10 years in San Francisco), and now I live in San Diego. I love sports and being out on the golf course, albeit, my golf game isn’t as strong as my financial advising “abilities”.

I was recently married in May 2025, and I’m enjoying the new journey that married life comes with. I imagine the next time I update this, the beautiful aspect of life/family planning will be what I’m sharing with you all!

If I’m lucky enough to be assigned as your advisor (teammate), I think you’ll quickly see how much joy I get out of my role and learning more about you and your family. Saying “clients” has always been odd to me, considering many folks I/we work with end up becoming part of the friends and family category.”

What does “Financial Wellness” mean to you as an advisor?

“For me, financial wellness is about confidence and clarity—knowing you understand the decisions being made around your money and feeling secure that they align with your goals.

My role is to make sure every client has a well-stocked financial ‘toolbelt,’ filled with the knowledge and strategies that empower smarter decisions and long-term security.”

If I were new to my financial wellness journey, what advice would you share?

“It might sound odd, but the best thing you can do is develop tunnel vision around your own financial picture. It’s easy to get caught up comparing yourself to what other households are doing, but their version of success isn’t necessarily yours. My role is not to nitpick lifestyles—it’s to help you set realistic expectations and understand what the status quo actually leads to over time. Once we define what success looks like for you, we can focus on the steps needed to get there and make sure every decision aligns with that long-term vision.”

What are some of your favorite aspects of working with new clients?

“My favorite aspect of working with new clients is building trust and becoming a true teammate in their financial journey. Everyone comes to us at different points in life—starting a first career job, getting married, having a child, buying a house, planning for retirement, or navigating equity windfalls.

No matter what stage of life, the most rewarding part is being trusted to stand by their side during the most intimate aspects of life. We learn what matters most to them and we help them navigate the path towards their version of success.”

Do you have an exciting client success story you can share?

“Recently, many of my clients’ success stories have shared a similar theme: balancing behavioral finance with achieving independence of W2 income. These stories are less about the household(s) chasing the ‘highest score’ or having the most dollars in the pot down the line. These clients have achieved independence of W2 income—even at the most conservative risk allocation. The stock market will never dictate another day of their life. We can handle the investment side of things while they focus on their household and regaining the adjusted work-life balance that often gets lost from working in tech.

Much of this has come from us being vocal about liquidating shares during generational stock runs. It has also meant shifting strategies when needed—like moving from a ‘hold NSOs for tax-deferred growth’ mindset to accelerating exercises or RSU sales 2 or 3 times faster, because protecting net worth and preserving that independence was the bigger priority. It’s rarely about giving up faith in the company; it’s about creating a new guaranteed investable baseline that secures the independence our clients worked for.”
