Team Member Spotlight: Kyle Boos

💼 Founding Engineer

As DiversiFi continues to grow, technology plays an increasingly important role in how the firm serves clients and scales its operations. As Founding Engineer, Kyle is helping build the next generation of that technology, creating tools and systems designed to improve both the client and advisor experience.

With more than a decade of software engineering experience, Kyle specializes in solving complex problems and turning ideas into practical solutions. While much of his focus today is dedicated to building DiversiFi’s future web platform, he also helps identify opportunities where technology and automation can unlock capabilities that may have previously been out of reach.

“Really, I love the feeling and satisfaction of solving problems and the progression of building and seeing things work,” he says. “There are plenty of projects and problems where I can help drive new solutions that may have otherwise been unknown or out of reach.”

🏗️ A Passion for Building

Kyle was born and raised in the San Diego area before eventually making his way to Northern California after college. His journey into software engineering began with a simple recommendation from his mom, who noticed how fascinated he was with computers and video games growing up.

That recommendation eventually led him to study Computer Science and build a career in software development, specializing in mobile applications. Over the last 12 years, he has worked on products used by thousands of people, gaining experience in both technical execution and large-scale product development.

Outside of work, Kyle is a lifelong sports fan. He played hockey throughout his childhood and college years, during which he met Alfred Au, now DiversiFi’s Head of Advisory. These days, he admits that pickleball and golf have become his latest obsessions.

His path to DiversiFi was also shaped by personal connections. His wife, Jaclyn Boos, joined the firm before he did, and through both her and Alfred, DiversiFi already felt familiar long before he officially joined the team.

“The people are genuine, warm, and fun,” he says. “It is incredibly refreshing to work in this type of culture and environment where people are truly friends.”

👨‍💻 Building Technology That People Actually Use

Over time, Kyle has discovered that the most rewarding engineering work is not necessarily the most technically complex. Instead, it is the work that directly impacts people.

“I’m most excited by engineering work that you can visually see and lands in the hands of customers,” he says. “Building features that help and get used by people every day is an awesome feeling.”

That mindset shapes how he approaches the platform currently being built at DiversiFi. While the project is still in its early stages, he is focused on creating a foundation that can grow alongside the firm while remaining intuitive for clients.

For now, that means prioritizing the client experience. “The client perspective is critical,” he explains. “Having a strong client self-service experience will allow us to build an even better advisor experience over time.”

⚖️ Balancing Speed, Simplicity, and Scale

One of the biggest challenges in software development is deciding how much to build today versus how much to plan for tomorrow.

Kyle spends a lot of time thinking about that balance. “One of the biggest tradeoffs is building for scale versus shipping fast and keeping things simple,” he says. While modern AI tools have made it easier than ever to build quickly, they have also increased the risk of creating systems that become difficult to maintain.

His solution is to break large challenges into smaller, manageable pieces and focus on steady progress.

“When trying to tackle a large system, the goal is to start small but scalable and work our way from there.”

That same philosophy extends to how he approaches emerging technology. He continually experiments with new tools and workflows, always looking for ways to improve how he works and what he can build.

“Keeping an open mind and having fun experimenting is key to not falling behind,” he says.

📈 Building the Future

One project that stands out from Kyle’s time at DiversiFi so far is an automation tool built for the Wealth Team’s covered call process. The project required him to learn not only the technical requirements but also the financial concepts behind the workflow.

Working closely with Portfolio Manager Jacob Barfield, Kyle developed a solution that dramatically simplified a previously manual process.

“I’m really happy with what was built,” he says. “We were ultimately able to deliver on a new tool that solved the workflow with a click of a button.”

Looking ahead, Kyle is most excited about the broader impact the firm’s new platform will have on clients and employees alike. While DiversiFi’s current planning workbooks have served the firm well, he sees tremendous opportunity to create new experiences, tools, and efficiencies that were not previously possible.

“This technology can completely change how we work,” he says, “and provide us with new financial tools for our clients in the future.”

For Kyle, that opportunity is what makes the challenge so rewarding. Building something that not only solves today's problems, but also helps shape the future of the firm and the client experience for years to come.
